So I’ve been in California, on and off, for close to 10 years now. I moved to Los Angeles in January 1997 for a couple of years and returned to San Diego from the East Coast in December 2001. I love it here – the sun, libertarian attitudes, eclectic mix of people and cultures, and a plethora of things to do. However, there’s been one thing missing from really making this state my OFFICIAL AND PERMANENT HOME.

And guess what folks? It’s arrived. I can officially call myself a permanent resident of the great state of California. And let me tell you why…

Now this may sound strange to you, but let me explain that the smell of chicken nuggets frying in peanut oil and the wafting of the aroma of waffle fries frying blissfully in preparation for my mouth is just about like the most comforting thing I can remember as a child. It’s like the smell of a mother’s perfume, a favorite sweater, or the perfect pair of jeans. And let me tell you, I’ve missed it!

It’s a bit of a shame that it opened about 3 blocks from my gym, possibly canceling out hundreds of workouts, but at least I will have worked off the fried food, in advance, so I feel good about that, in advance.

The grand opening? TOMORROW, Thursday, November 2nd, 2006. San Diego, California. And you better believe I’m going be there early, ready to order a chicken biscuit combo, complete with tater tots and a Diet Dr. Pepper. And the first 100 patrons receive free CFA for a year, so you better believe I'm going to be there EARLY!

My life is almost complete. Join me in my celebration, as I’ve reached one more level in the pursuit of the top notch in Maslow’s Heirarchy of Needs – the perfect fried chicken nugget at my disposal, any day of the week but Sunday.

We really ARE sisters! I was at the grand opening of a CFA near my office. My co-workers and I counted down the days. For me, it's a #1 w/extra pickles, diet coke...they really cheated us out of some fries so my friend, Cathy, asked one of the managers, "is there a shortage of fries back there?" Next thing we know, we had a BAG full of fries! Right on! I'm going to be very jealous if you get CFA for a year. Yum Yum Pigs Bum!

Can't wait to hear about your experience tomorrow--go Meredith!

I LOVE IT! I'm going to have to remember that trick to see if I can procure a big bag of fries next time I go.

YUM YUM is right! Update on this morning's CFA adventure soon!

Love, Mer
